Nintendo president warns that Switch shortages could still happen this year due to semiconductor production – My Nintendo News

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa has stated that there could be issues securing enough semiconductors needed for Nintendo Switch production in the future. Mr. Furukawa said that at the moment the global shortage of semiconductors hasn’t affected the company and that stock is fine, but he acknowledges that it could become an issue later this year. The global shortage of semiconductors has affected the vast majority of electronics companies including Apple and Sony etc.

“We have been able to secure the necessary materials for the immediate production of semiconductors for switches,” he said. “However, in Japan and other countries, demand has been very strong since the beginning of the year, and there is a possibility of shortages at some retailers in the future.

“It is difficult to say how we will deal with this, but in some cases we may not be able to prepare enough for orders.”
